Wow, didn’t Hillary do a great job in last night’s debate? She’s brilliant.
I don’t understand Obama’s argument regarding health insurance. He says the reason people don’t get health insurance is because they can’t afford it. I’m sure that’s true for some people and both Obama’s and Clinton’s plan will make low cost insurance available to those individuals.
The problems are those who don’t want insurance no matter the cost. They don’t want to pay out any amount of money every month and, as long as they stay well there’s no problem, however, there’s a catastrophic problem if they are in an accident or develop a disabling disease. Obama says we’ll charge these people a penalty if they become sick. Depending on the size of the penalty, remaining uninsured may be worth the gamble.
The reason health insurance, and health care costs are so high is because we can’t afford the unisured getting sick. That’s the nature of the problem and Obama’s plan doesn’t address it. He hopes that everyone will get insurance, but that, like all things, just shows his naivete.
There’s a reason why so many states have passed seat belt and motorcycle helmet laws — because the costs of caring for people who don’t voluntarily protect themselves is greater than the cost of limiting individual freedom. It’s a bottom line issue.
And, Obama says that Hillary has never addressed the issue of what to do with people who don’t get insurance even though it’s mandated. I say, she’ll do the same thing he does to families who don’t insure their children or to individuals who don’t buy insurance and then become ill.
He’s so weak on this issue and yet, like his sexist language, so many remain oblivious to the mean and meaningless words he speaks.
